>..tell..how..(the diagram) works.
_________________________
The diagram is essentially a model. | ~U |
A model with limits, which would be
the square. This square, in mathe-
matical terms, is called ~U, which
represents the Universe. In the
realm of mathematics, the ~U is a
limit to quantified analysis. |_______________________|

The above diagram of the limits of
the mathematical question, or model
of the Universe, is essentially the
realm of science; in that modern
science is based on mathematics, and
that belief in science is a belief
in mathematics, or that mathematicians
are the theologians of science. <dg

This Scientific Universe, or ~U, has ________________________________
yet to be realized in the Humanities. | Architecture |
In the Humanities, this Universe is
only alluded to, but not revealed.
Instead, for example, architecture
refers to this universe being one
"set" among other sets, in the
operation of things. Thus, instead
of ~U being the limits to question,
instead, architecture becomes the |______________________________|
Universe.

________________________________
Science, then becomes a "set" in | Architecture |
the Universe called Architecture.
In ways this is true, as with the | ________ |
materials science, but if science | / \ |
were a subject as is architecture | | Science
then is it truthful to say that | \________/ |
science _is_ a subset, or that
architecture _is_ a subset of science?
|______________________________|

So, this square becomes the limit
to the question. The square can
define this limit. Thus, if the
square is named Architecture, like
above, then whatever set (Science)
exists in this space, it will exist
within the limits of Architecture,
or the Universe of Architecture.
How does Science exist within the
Universe of Architecture?

It is also true to say that in _______________________________
the ~U of Science, Architecture is | universe |
itself a set. And since the ~U of
Science is also the ~U of Mathematics | ____________ |
it is also possible to analyze the | / \ |
"event" that occurs with the set of | / architecture \ |
architecture, existing within the | \ / |
~U of Science, which is the Universe. | \____________/ |
If architecture exists and is limited
in breadth by the Universe, then how |_____________________________|
is Science a set within architecture?

>..how to make these diagrams..?

start with a circle, a thing, this is a set

draw a box which is the limit to the question

start with two things. draw two circles, each a thing.

if these 2 have something in common, make them intersecting.

- if A + B are the same, this is called a Set-Union

- if A + B commonly intersect, this is Set-Intersection

if these 2 don't, keep them separate, they are mutually exclusive.

if one of these is a sub-set of a set, draw a circle inside the

other. ex. "set" Television Station "sub-set" Television

put these in ~U or a ~U

[note: analyzing a Venn "set" is called "set-operations"
and creating a set is called "set-building"

I do not recommend the following... ~u

communication-------|
| \__ energy
transportation /______|

(the triple intersection:
human body, space satellite)

>..understanding something..never seen before..

>..would like to learn how to use..

A good techique for organizing and analyzing.
The primary color diagram is a Venn diagram.
Think in terms of "keywords" and "relationships/events"
Books are mathematically based, but general enough.
Ask a mathematician for help in setting up a Venn diagram.

if you have an event post it to the list,
