Sinhgad College of Architecture, Pune

here is what I have to say. We may have to categorize the discussions for three groups mainly consisting of ...

  • Students
  • Diploma or ITI level
    Undergraduate level
  • Graduate and Doctorate level
  • Teachers
  • Basic computer proficiency level
  • Advance computer proficiency level
  • Practitioners (Practicing Architects)
  • Architectural Design Practice
  • Building construction and Allied Services
  • IT related services

And any other if you can think of.

Another issue that I wanted to discuss is that we may not limit ourselves to only theoretical issues. I feel that one has to acquire or at least be aware of the basics (bare minimum skill-sets) in order to think of any further theoretical issues. So I think that teaching software packages as a part of vocational training is to be accepted.

In our agenda, we may further categorize the discussions in two categories Research oriented /Theoretical issues as part of pedagogical endeavour, such as Digital opportunities in Architectural practice

Critical analysis of technology and creativity, etc.

  • Skill based/Practical issues as part of vocational courses such as

  • Training in various design and drafting software

  • Tools and gadgets

  • Games, walk-through(s) etc.

It is a good suggestion from Anand to look at activities of IIA’s IT committee and take expert opinion from the interested academicians as well as practitioners.

As Srivathsan has summed up, we should start with a white paper.
